Oot of Kippen and into the world
Over the years we have had a couple of standout players who have gone on to make a name for themselves in the professional game…
George Rankin (midfield) – Kippen FC, Kilsyth Rangers, Airdrieonians, St. Johnstone and Stenhousemuir
In the late 1950’s we had George Rankin who played for Kippen and went on to sign for Kilsyth Rangers from there on he made his way in the game starting professionally at Airdrie in the old Division one (Premier League).
We are still trying to find out more about George for our archive.
Iain Turner – Stirling Albion, Everton and others
Without doubt our most famous export. From a family who were long associated with the club, Iain starred the first time with Kippen FC when he was still a schoolboy at Balfron High School, before being spotted by Stirling Albion and subsequently sold to Premier League giants Everton.
He participated in various Scotland squads and we proudly have displayed his shirt from the Winning Scotland team at the Kirin Cup in Japan in 2006. Things came full circle for Iain when he played for the Grapes as a robust centre back as part of the Resurrection squad in 2023. Read more about his career here.
We believe that Iain is the only Forth and Endrick player to have played in the Premier League in England… unless someone knows different?
